Set on a beautiful cobbled street, among the most stunning of areas in the already competitively attractive Vienna, Tian Bistro is the critically acclaimed more relaxed offshoot of the Michelin starred Tian. It prides itself on its natural and healthy philosophy, serving great-tasting vegetarian cuisine to delight even the most stubborn of carnivores, all in a relaxed environment and at surprisingly good prices.

Tian Rapphaello

As we walk in on an early Saturday afternoon, families and couples relax in the brightly lit restaurant. We’re soon seen to and shown to our seats in a cosy corner of the laid-back bistro. After considering the fantastic looking breakfast (served until 2pm on weekends), we decide against it and kick things off with one of their ice teas, an elderberry and ginger combination that perks us up for the remainder of the meal. They also stock a good selection of organic wines. We try the cheese dumpling in vegetable broth as a starter, with soups being an important part of Viennese cuisine and this particular soup being our favourite of our time in the city. We then opt for the Spittelburger with goat cheese and fries and the renowned Tian Rapphaello of white polenta with shitake and pak-choi, a play on the famous chocolates. These were both extraordinary and part of the reason why Tian Bistro was among what we found to be the best restaurants in the city, serving fantastic-tasting food in a relaxed, unpretentious environment. Highly recommended.
