Perched 66 metres up in the air on Žižkov tower, Oblaca and their talented award-winning chef Tomas Lachman offer superb fine dining with arguably the best views over Prague around. With innovative mixologists, a good wine list and a tasting menu, Oblaca offers a range of ways to spend an evening and we are very glad to have spent a good evening at the restaurant. We arrived at Žižkov Tower in the early evening with the sun just starting to dip in the turquoise sky with a reservation in a half hour’s time so decided to go to the tower’s observation deck, 99 metres high, before our meal (for more details on this, click here). After marvelling at the surrounding views, we went down in the lift to Oblaca, just one floor down where we were quickly sat with stunning views over Prague Castle and the surrounding city as the sun dimmed.
We began with a glass of Moravian wine (read our guide to Czech wines here) and one of their expertly made cocktails, followed by our starters: beef tartare and a goat’s cheese medley (which was really something, with a tangy sweetness to the cheeses). This was followed by a salmon and duck dish, with the duck beautifully cooked, and then an incredible chocolate mascarpone filled tower to finish – all of it astounding.
Considering the views and the quality of the food, it is a very reasonably priced restaurant and was one of the best experiences during our time in Prague. Highly recommended.
