While Bologna is certainly a wine-lover’s city, with Lambrusco, Albana, Sangiovese and more flourishing nearby (see our piece on the wines of Emilia-Romagna here), Il Punto on Via San Rocco puts the city on the beer map. Italian craft beer has gained something of a reputation for its creativity, with bold brewers experimenting with both international styles and local flavours to create intriguing beers. With so many good brewers to choose from, it can get a little confusing at times. That’s where Il Punto comes in. Every week (I believe), they change their on-tap selection, featuring beers from around Italy and the rest of the world. For (I believe) 5 EUR or so, they also offer a tasting board of four beers.
Not only is there an ever-changing range of on-tap beers, but they also stock bottles from all around the world with an extensive menu to choose from. While beer is very much the lifeblood of Il Punto, they also offer good wines and spirits for reasonable prices, along with good piadina, burgers and more. This is a chilled-out beer and foodie paradise in a trendy part of the city. Also worth a gander in this area are La Cremeria della Grada’s gelato and Pizzeria da Toto’s massive, delicious and budget-friendly pizzas.
